The Diplomatic Security Foundation is pleased to demonstrate how your contributions have helped support those in the Diplomatic Security worldwide family during times of need. DSF grants are unrestricted gifts, requiring no re-payment. Anyone from the extended global DS “family” may be considered for a donation, per review by the DSF Board of Directors, which is composed of active, retired and former DS personnel. We protect the privacy of the individuals to whom we provide financial support. Requests For Assistance (RFA) are kept completely confidential and are only reviewed by members of the DSF Board. We do not publicize the names of those we help and often omit identifying information about recipients from our published list of grants.

$2,000 for four guards at US Embassy Vientiane (Laos) who suffered major damage to their homes from the effects of Typhoon Yagi.

$5,000 for a local guard at U.S. Embassy Caracas (Venezuela) to assist with medical costs. He suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle accident while off duty.  He has worked at the embassy for 14 years, but because of the severity of his injuries will most likely not be able to return to work.

$4,000 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Harare (Zimbabwe) who passed away after health complications.  He had worked at the embassy for 23 years, and leaves behind a wife and a 14 year old daughter. 

$5,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Guayaquil (Ecuador) to assist with medical costs surpassing insurance coverage associated with his treatments for brain cancer.

$4,000 to the wife of a local guard at US Embassy Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) who survived a house fire that took the life of her husband, 16 year old daughter and nephew.

$5,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Beirut (Lebanon) to assist with medical costs for injuries sustained while he was attacked while standing guard at the embassy front gate. He was shot in the face, chest and arm by a lone gunman.

$5,000 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Cotonou (Benin) who recently died. He had been with the embassy for 25 years. He leaves behind a wife and seven children.

$1,000 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Managua (Nicaragua) who was killed in a motorcycle accident.  He leaves behind a wife and a young daughter.

$5,000 to four local guards at US Consulate General Porto Alegre (Brazil), who lost their homes and all of their personal effects during a recent catastrophic flood.

$2,500 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) who recently died. He had worked as a PSA guard at the embassy for 17 years.  He is survived by his wife and 4 children; his wife is currently severely ill with cancer.

$5,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Manama (Bahrain) who’s husband recently died in a motorcycle accident, his death benefits will not go to his wife and their two children (1 and 3). The guard has been with the embassy for 14 years.

$3,000 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Khartoum (Sudan) who recently died. He had worked as a PSA guard at the embassy for 17 years.  He leaves behind a wife and 3 children, who reside in Cairo because of the unsettled security environment in Sudan. 

$3,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Tirana (Albania) to help with uninsured medical and travel costs for his infant child who was born with severe cardiac deficiencies.  Treatment has been outside Albania, as the child's medical needs exceed medical capabilities in country.

$1,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) to assist with relocation cost. The guard and his family had been forced to move to a new city after the guard was falsely accused on social media as being a “spy” for the US.

$4,200 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Juba (South Sudan) who died unexpectedly. He has served for 23 years at the embassies in Khartoum and Juba. He leaves behind a wife and three children.

$3,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Nairobi (Kenya) to assist with uninsured medical costs for her 2-year-old son who has is seeking treatment for cancer.

$5,000 to the family of a DS/HTP employee who was killed in a motor vehicle accident.

$3,000 to a local guard at US Embassy Belgrade (Serbia) to assist with uninsured medical costs for her 10 year old son who has is seeking treatment for a debilitating autoimmune disease.

$1,200 for the family local guard at US Embassy Banjul (The Gambia). The guard was killed while riding his bike to his post.  He had worked for the embassy for a total of 22 years.  He leaves behind a wife and 8 children, all of whom he supported.

$2,000 to the family of a local guard at US Embassy Islamabad (Pakistan) who died of a heart attack. He worked at the embassy for over 24 years, and leaves behind a wife and 4 children, ranging in age from 4 to 17.

$1,000 to the family of a SPEAR Team Officer at US Embassy Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) to help with funeral costs after she died suddenly.

$4,500 was provided to a vetted Haitian police officer to assist with relocation costs. in 2018, he had been part of the DEA and DS team involved in the arrest of a politician who was convicted of drug offenses and subsequently extradited to the US. Upon the politician’s recent release from prison, he returned to Haiti and ordered a hit on the police officer and his family.

$2,000 to a local guard as US Embassy Cairo (Egypt) to help cover uninsured medical costs associated with an illness. He has been with the embassy for 22 years.
